A very Goth friendly wonderful hotel set away from the main streets, the hotel is quite new and has all the modern facilities that you would expect (including a fitness suite and pool). Breakfast in the morning is excellent with a sea of black filling the large hall. Many of the bands will stay at this hotel and you can find yourself sitting eating breakfast with your favourite bands. Highly recommended and well worth the extra money. Rooms go very fast so if you want to stay here you had best book very early. The Hotel is full of Goths for the entire festival, if you are on your own come and stay here, you wont be on your own for long. Wi-Fi in the Hotel is charged to your room.

So I stayed here again this year, and I must say that something seems to have changed at the hotel, staff were pleasant, but less so than other years. Drinks at the bar seemed to take ages and the rooms are looking a little tired. When I slept in late they didn't seem to worry about not cleaning the room, although I did get a phone call once. The Hotel is very quite even with a room overlooking the front of the hotel. My Junior Suite was huge, and I got some complementary chocolates and water. Still I did hear of others less fortunate, hence I have downgraded the Goth Stars to Four (from Five).

So once once again I stayed at the Renaissance, after last years slight disappointment at the service I was very pleasantly surprised to find the staff far friendlier and very helpful. Yes, the rooms do look a little tired now (as they did last year), however that said they are still very good quality. We slept in most mornings with no noise disturbing us (the maids are very quite in the hallways). The Bar area is most excellent, and if you get back early its always worth checking it out to see what bands are chilling out with a beer or two.

If you want to stay in this hotel you will have to book early, the festival will bulk book a lot of rooms for bands, and I know of various other groups who always bulk book rooms. I advise booking as you leave, or a week or two after you get home. In July 2007 the hotel was already pre-booked for 2008.
