It's a short walk down the Troendlinring from the Hauptbahnhof and there is a nice market located right across the street. I thought the location was excellent. One of the trams that went to Anker (last year's venue for Neofolk and dark ambient) stops RIGHT across from the hotel, which was insanely convenient for me. The Fuerstenhof was also within easy walking distance from the orchestral hall where the medieval folks played last year.
The hotel is very well appointed with antiques and nice furniture. There's a restaurant on site where I ate one night ($100 a person type place) and also a sort of bistro/afternoon tea on the porch lounge, too. I'm a light sleeper and this place was -awesomely- quiet for my liking.
The staff were horrendously snobby. I went down for breakfast one morning and the waitress was like, "Excuse me, are you staying here?" That really irked me. There were several incidences like that. I don't know if it was because I was American, staying by myself, or some other prejudice I can't even fathom. Probably the language barrier.
The exception to the snobby staff was the head chef, who's a young guy, and actually helped me with maps and general info about Leipzig. He liked metal and wasn't going to any shows because he had to work. He was so nice to me! The Fuerstenhof has an indoor pool down in the basement and it was very relaxing down there. I swam almost every day. There's also a salon, which I didn't need, but I was glad it was offered. The Fuerstenhof is right next to a church and I thought the neighborhood was easy going and quiet.
I am undecided as to whether or not I'll stay there again, because it I loved my room, there was some excellent closet space. The bathroom was also nice and spacious, marble of course. Oh, and you can get the radio to play through a speaker in the ceiling in the bathroom. I enjoyed the classical station when I was getting ready to go out.
