In 2006 XtraX (pronounced Extra-X) opened a store in Leipzig. Its probably the biggest and best of all German Gothic Clothing and
Accessories Stores (and probably one of the very best in the world, they attend every German gothic festival as well as having an
excellent website). There is also a wonderful XtraX store in Berlin. The largest store down at the Agra Messepark (Halle 1) will of course
be the XtraX store (just look for the queue, and some quite tight security). The new shop is located quite close to the Sixtina and the new
location of the Dark Flower Nightclub. The shop has two floors and a basement (where you will find a great selection of Boots and
Shoes including New Rocks). The store sells clothing for both men and women (and baby t-shirts!).
During WGT XtraX will normally have a massive sale with most items being included (just look for the posters near the till). Purchasing
from XtraX can take some time, the shop will be full of people and there is only one till. In 2006 it was taking 20+ minutes to buy clothes
at one point. Another downside of the store is the amount of clothes they pack on to the rails, personally I find that looking for items is
quite difficult as the rails are very tightly packed.
In 2006, just over the road from the main store there was also an extra XtraX store, a bigger one floor shop selling reduced gothic
clothing (the quality of some items was quite poor, I guess the shop was selling seconds, over stock and stock remain from last year).
This store was less packed, plus there was a small stage and band autograph area near the rear of the shop.
However that all said the XtraX store is tremendous, it can be quite expensive and time consuming but well worth it for the items you will
find hidden away on the rails.

GOTIK STORE 'Gotik & Schach' 2 ORANGE

If you head past the Seaside Park Hotel to the bagel shop, take a left here and cross over the road, here you will find the Gotik Store
(just look for the crowd of people dressed in black outside). A Fabulous emporium of Goth Clothes and artifacts. Again this shop gets
very full but it has excellent stock, wait and you will get in. The first part of the shop sells mainly male clothes of the Trad persuasion
while to the left past the till you will find the female part of the store. They also sell boots, chess sets and all the standard Goth jewellery
and ornaments. An excellent place to pick up a full length leather jacket or some German Goth Boots. Next to the till you will find a
doorway, if its open you can go out the back to the Extra sale area. This area is probably bigger than the actual shop and has a good
stock of boots and clothing, an excellent place to pick up a bargain. Highly recommended.

If you are standing before the building where the shop used to be, facing it, turn right, walk 5 meters or so and then turn left into a little
passage. Head to the end, and there is the new "Gotik & Schach"....Exactly the same shop but with more space inside.

I must say that the new shop is not as good as the old shop, it seems to have lost something. Much of the stock looks the same as last
year (which isn't exactly a bad thing, but does not inspire me to part with my money). There seems to be more room on two levels, with
the girlie stuff being downstairs along with a small selection of boots and shoes.

If you cross over from the Train Station and head towards the Seaside Park Hotel you will see a cobble stoned road running down the
side of the hotel. This is one part of the old town. Walk down this road past the Bagel shop, and you will see a shop on your right that
appears to sell Goth clothes and boots (but in fact they sell very little if you can find it), continue down the road and you will come across
what appears to be a Goth/fetish shop called Hautnah. An excellent shop selling mainly female clothes and extreme stiletto shoes. It
does have some male clothes but they tend to be quite average. Out the back you will find a map of the world that you will be
encouraged to place a pin in to show where you live. They also stock quite a large range of rubber wear towards the back of the shop
that is clearly more fetish than Goth, but very nice. The shop staff are very friendly and talk excellent English. You may struggle to get into
the shop as it can be very busy at times, but its well worth the wait especially if you’re female.
